We shall once more be running our Lent Appeal by inviting members of the congregation to donate 1 € a day for Lent towards our chosen charities (total of 40 €)
Last year we raised around 2000 € for our charities. The charities for 2010 will going to two overseas charities and one local charity each from Bonn and Cologne.
We shall kick start the appeal on Sunday 21st Feb, so please sign up then, but you don’t need to pay up until Easter!

The next Choral Evensong takes place on 27th February at 18.00 in the AntoniterCityKirche, Schildergasse, Cologne. The music will be provided by the Bonn English Singers under the direction of Fraer Gartshore. The Magnificat and Nunc Dimittis are to a setting in B flat by C V Stanford and the anthem will be God So Loved The World by Stainer. The liturgy is from the Book of Common Prayer and is a very beautiful and prayerful service. A good congregation always attends and everyone is welcome to come along and enjoy the spiritual peace of this service

Starting on Sunday 21st February at 18.30 there will be a new monthly evening Eucharist in St Cyprian's Bonn. The service will be in English and in ecumenical partnership with our sister congregation at St Cyprian's. We hope this will enable people who might not be able to get out to Bonn Mehlem the opportunity of an English language service more centrally in Bonn. They will take place every 3rd Sunday in each month. All are very welcome

The Eucharist is the central act of worship for us in the Chaplaincy. But what does it mean to us, as individuals, as Christians, as a Chaplaincy and Church? Throughout Lent we will look at how we interact with the Eucharist using scripture, other texts, images, and music. This year's central ecumenical service for World Day of Prayer in Bad Godesberg will be held in the Herz Jesu Kirche, Kirchbergstraße in Bonn-Lannesdorf on Friday, March 5th at 4 pm. The service will definitely have an African flair to it as it has been put together by women from Cameroon, and has the title " let everything that has breath praise God". The music promises to be lively. Please put this date into your diary and try to come. There will be coffee and tea afterwards, with a chance to talk too. On Sunday 31st january there will be no service in Haus Steinbach at 9.30. Instead we will join with our sister congregation at St Cyprian's at 10.00 for a joint Eucharist at which Pfrin Jette Crüwell will preside and Simon Hobbs will preach. there service will be in German and English. There will be provision for children and refreshments arfterwards. All are welcome.

There will be Quiz Nights in both Bonn and Cologne this year with a pot luck supper. These are always good fun and an opportuntiy for the congregation to get together for an evening of entertainment. Anthony Cooper will be our quizmaster once again this year. The Cologne Quiz Night will take place on Friday 29th January and the Bonn evening wil take place on Friday 5th February, boh begin at 19.30 and all are welcome to either one.
