News out of Stoke-on-Trent these days is not too positive with Wedgwood going into receivership and the loss of a large number of jobs in an area that has seen its traditional manufacturing base eroded over the years. But one tremendous place of caring and outreach is Blythe Bridge Methodist church, a vibrant group of people of all ages who meet each Sunday in a small Wesleyan chapel to worship God and offer one another support in the good and the bad times.

Holy Week & Easter

Here God and human beings, heaven and earth meet in an act which unites us all and reveals to us the nature and purposes of God in his great love for his creation.

Lent Appeal

We shall once more be running our Lent Appeal by inviting members of the congregation to donate 1 € a day for Lent towards our chosen charities (total of 40 €)
Last year we raised around 2000 € for our charities. The charities for 2010 will going to two overseas charities and one local charity each from Bonn and Cologne.
We shall kick start the appeal on Sunday 21st Feb, so please sign up then, but you don’t need to pay up until Easter!

Choral Evensong

The next Choral Evensong takes place on 27th February at 18.00 in the AntoniterCityKirche, Schildergasse, Cologne. The music will be provided by the Bonn English Singers under the direction of Fraer Gartshore. The Magnificat and Nunc Dimittis are to a setting in B flat by C V Stanford and the anthem will be God So Loved The World by Stainer. The liturgy is from the Book of Common Prayer and is a very beautiful and prayerful service. A good congregation always attends and everyone is welcome to come along and enjoy the spiritual peace of this service
