On being Anglican
Andrew Sillis
Over the past few weeks, in responses to the Bonn questionnaire and in questions asked at the AGM, a desire was expressed that the Chaplaincy uphold its Anglican identity. Which raises the question, what is 'Anglican Identity', what does it mean to be Anglican?

¿Como? means "What did you say?"
A volunteer year in Guatemala
Holger Laske, an ordained Anglican priest, was until last year an active member of this chaplaincy, preaching in St Boniface and All Saints on various occasions. As a native German his main focus as a non-stipendiary priest was with an Old Catholic mission in Hagen/Westfalen. In September 2011 he left Cologne and is now working in Guatemala. His intention after his volunteer year in Central America is to go back to full-time ministry. Here is his report.

In March Richard attended a 'Bishop's Advisory Panel' for a 3 day long interview to share his sense of calling, and they recognised in him the qualities we expect of a priest and recommended Bishop Geoffrey sponsor his training.

Bonn Congregation on the move?
We've been talking for a long time about moving from the Mehlem Chapel. We've explored all the available options, and some which weren't actually available. We've held 'test' services and shared opinions about our future through a questionnaire. On 14th April the Bonn Council unanimously decided to recommend to the Chaplaincy Council that we do indeed move regular worship from Mehlem to St Paulus in Beuel.

Who are we? |
|
The Cologne-Bonn Anglican-Episcopal Chaplaincy serves the English speaking community in the Cologne Bonn area bounded by Aachen in the West, Siegen in the East, Düsseldorf in the North (where there is another Anglican chaplaincy) and Koblenz in the South. The centres of Anglican worship are in the cities of Cologne and Bonn. Both cities are on the river Rhine, about 30 minutes (20 miles) apart by car (on one of two motorways), tram or train. |
